The Hardas of India

The Hardas of India, numbering approximately 64,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a community of religious mendicants in Maharashtra, also known as Chitrakathi, whose name derives from the deity Hari Vithal. The Hardas were traditionally wandering storytellers who narrate epic tales accompanied by music. They are an Indigenous people in the Marathi-Konkani people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Marathi and their primary religion is Hinduism.
