The Chanao of India

The Chanao of India, numbering approximately 2,200 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are an endogamous landowning agricultural community concentrated in the West Champaran district of Bihar, who call themselves Chandel Chatri and trace their origins to migration from Rajasthan or Uttar Pradesh. They speak Bhojpuri. They are an Indigenous people in the Bihari people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Bhojpuri and their primary religion is Hinduism.
