The Baniya of Nepal, numbering approximately 219,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Vaishya merchant caste of Indian origin, closely related to North Indian Baniyas. The Baniya are found mainly in the Terai. They are an Indigenous people, in the Bania people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Nepali.
