They are described as a small community of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh traditionally making and selling leaf cups and plates for ceremonial use, whose name may derive from doshwaie, referring to a low-ranked status from a past transgression They are an Indigenous people, with Dosali as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Hindi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Dogri.
