The Purig-Pa of India, numbering approximately 44,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are described as a Tibetan-origin people inhabiting the Kargil district of Ladakh, concentrated in the Suru Valley, Kargil town, and surrounding blocks and can also be known as Purigpa, Purik. They are an Indigenous people, with Purig-Pa as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Tibetan people cluster of the Tibetan Peoples. Their primary religion is Shia Islam. They primarily speak Purig.
