They are a regional subgroup of the Maninka (Malinké) people of western Mali, centered around the town of Kita. They are an Indigenous people, in the Malinke people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Islam - Sunni. They primarily speak Maninkakan, Kita.
