They are the main ethnic group of Türkiye (Turkey) and one of the largest Turkic-speaking populations in the world. They are an Indigenous people, in the Turkic people cluster of the Turkic Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Islam - Sunni. They primarily speak Turkish.
