Traditionally settled farmers, they derive their identity from cultivation and household land management and speak Gujarati as their primary language They are an Indigenous people, with Kunbi as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Marathi-Konkani people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Gujarati.
