The Lois of India

The Lois of India, numbering approximately 76,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste of Manipur historically banished from Meitei society for violating kinship norms, speaking the Meitei dialect Chakpa. Cultivation, liquor distilling, and sericulture remain their occupations. They are an Indigenous people in the Manipuri people cluster of the Himalayan Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Meitei and their primary religion is Hinduism.
