The Kavara of India

The Kavara of India, numbering approximately 22,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste community of Ernakulam, Palakkad, and Thrissur districts in Kerala speaking a dialect of Tulu, traditionally engaged in wicker work. Mostly landless, they work as agricultural laborers and basket-makers. They are an Indigenous people in the Tamil people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Malayalam and their primary religion is Hinduism.
