They are described as a Scheduled Caste community scattered throughout Himachal Pradesh, closely identified with the Hali and working mainly as agricultural and other laborers. They speak Himachali, worship Shiv as their principal deity They are an Indigenous people, with Chanal as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Punjabi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Folk Hinduism. They primarily speak Hindi.
