The Turi Barot of India

The Turi Barot of India, numbering approximately 14,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are described as a small, distinct Hindu community found mainly in western India (especially Gujarat), formed at the intersection of two older social identities: the Turi (a Scheduled Caste artisan group) and the Barot (a hereditary genealogist–bard community) They are an Indigenous people, with Turi Barot as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Gujarati people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Gujarati.
