The Bisati of India

The Bisati of India, numbering approximately 8,800 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Sunni Muslim community of peddlers and hawkers of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, whose name derives from bisat, meaning goods displayed for sale. They are also known as Manihar and Feriwala, and many now work in agriculture and trade. They are an Indigenous people in the Urdu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Urdu and their primary religion is Sunni Islam.
