The Tanla of India

The Tanla of India, numbering approximately 88,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste of Sambalpur, Dhenkanal, and Phulbani districts, Odisha, their name recalling their low placement in the social hierarchy. Agricultural labor remains their main occupation, supplemented by service and business. They are an Indigenous people in the Odia people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Odia and their primary religion is Hinduism.
