The Bandi of India

The Bandi of India, numbering approximately 5,900 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a Telugu-speaking Scheduled Caste community of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka whose name means "rock," traditionally engaged as landless agricultural laborers and village servants. They are also known as Banda and worship village deities such as Yellamma. They are an Indigenous people in the Marathi-Konkani people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Telugu and their primary religion is Hinduism.
