The Katia of India

The Katia of India, numbering approximately 252,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste community of Chhindwara and Jabalpur districts in Madhya Pradesh named for their former occupation of spinning cotton thread. Most have since taken up rickshaw-pulling and agricultural labor. They are an Indigenous people in the Hindi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Hindi and their primary religion is Folk Hinduism.
