The Ahom of India

The Ahom of India, numbering approximately 871,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are described as an ethnolinguistic community of Mongoloid origin from Assam who migrated from Tai-speaking regions in AD 1228, initially spoke Tai language, later adopted Assamese language and Vaishnavite Hinduism, and historically formed the dominant social structure They are an Indigenous people, with Ahom as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Assamese people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Assamese.
