They are described as a North Indian tailoring and cloth-printing caste tracing its origin to Baba Namdev, also known as Darzi, with both Sikh and Hindu branches engaged in dyeing, stamping, and garment-making They are an Indigenous people, with Chhimba / Chimba as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Punjabi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Punjabi, Western.
