The Bhovi of India

The Bhovi of India, numbering approximately 1,415,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached. They are a Scheduled Caste community of well-diggers, stone-cutters, and earth-workers, whose name derives from the Kannada bhavi, meaning well. They trace their origin to Odra Desa, present-day Odisha, from where they migrated to southern India. They are an Indigenous people in the Telugu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Telugu and their primary religion is Ethnoreligion.
