They are an ethnolinguistic community of Mozambique, northeast and central, most of Zambezia province: south Nampula Province. They are an Indigenous people, in the Bantu, Makua-Yao people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion. They primarily speak Lomwe.
