They are an indigenous community of Mali and can also be known as Western Malinke, Malinke, Malinka, Northwestern Maninka, Maninkia Kita, Malinké, Western Maninka, Malinke. They are an Indigenous people, in the Malinke people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Islam - Sunni. They primarily speak Maninkakan, Western.
