They are one of two sub-groups of the Beri (Kige), a large ethnic group who live on the border of Chad and Sudan. Beri They are an Indigenous people, in the Kanuri-Saharan people cluster of the Sub-Saharan African Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary religion is Islam - Sunni. They primarily speak Zaghawa.
