The Turkmen of Iraq

The Turkmen of Iraq, numbering approximately 2,855,000 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are a western Turkic people who played a significant role in the history of Central Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. The ancestors of Iraqi Turkmen were Oghuz Turkic peoples whose arrival in Iraq (Mesopotamia) began as early as the 7th century . They are also known as Turkmen, Iraqi Turkmen, Türkmanja, Türkmen. They are an Indigenous people in the Turkic people cluster of the Turkic Peoples affinity bloc. Their primary language is Azerbaijani, South and their primary religion is Sunni Islam.
