They are described as a Mon-Khmer ethnic group indigenous to the Shan state of Myanmar, near the border with China They are an Diaspora people, with Riang (Riang-Lang) as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Mon-Khmer people cluster of the Southeast Asian Peoples. Their primary religion is Animism. They primarily speak Riang Lang.
