They are described as a subgroup of the East Cree people, part of the larger Cree Nation in Canada. They inhabit the southeastern region of Quebec, particularly around James Bay and can also be known as Inland Eastern Cree.
They are an Indigenous people, with Cree as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the North American Indigenous people cluster of the North American Peoples.
Their primary religion is Christianity - Protestantism.
They primarily speak English.
