They are described as an Odia-speaking Hindu weaving community of Odisha, concentrated in Puri and Cuttack districts, traditionally making cotton saris and dhotis. They are organized into two clans, Naga and Hasri, which regulate marriage alliances and can also be known as [no data].

Their primary religion is Hinduism.
They primarily speak Odia.
