They are described as a Hmong-Mien ethnolinguistic group indigenous to southwest China and adjacent border areas of Vietnam and can also be known as Sinicized Miao.
They are an Indigenous people, with Miao / Hmong as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Miao / Hmong people cluster of the Southeast Asian Peoples.
Their primary religion is Ethnoreligion.
They primarily speak Sinicized Miao.
