The Bellara of India

The Bellara of India, numbering approximately 1,900 people, are Unengaged and Unreached.
They are described as a Kannada-speaking Scheduled Caste community of basket and mat-makers concentrated in Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, whose name derives from bilu hari, "tearing plant fiber." They have matrilineal clans (bari) and worship bhuta spirits.
They are an Indigenous people in the Kanarese people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc.
Kannada is their primary language and Hinduism is their primary religion.
