They are described as an Indo-Aryan ethnic group with roots in the Indian subcontinent who migrated west, primarily settling across the Middle East, North Africa, Eastern Anatolia, the Caucasus, and parts of Central Asia. They are also known as Zott.
They are an Indigenous people in the Domari people cluster of the Persian-Median Peoples affinity bloc.
Persian, Iranian is their primary language and Sunni Islam is their primary religion.
