The Karwal of India

The Karwal of India, numbering approximately 24,500 people, are No Longer Unreached.
They are described as a Scheduled Caste community of Basti, Gorakhpur, and Kanpur districts in Uttar Pradesh claiming Rajput descent, whose name recalls a traditional occupation of hunting. Liquor distilling and farm labor are now their livelihood.
They are an Indigenous people in the Hindi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc.
Hindi is their primary language and Folk Hinduism is their primary religion.
