The Chanal of India

The Chanal of India, numbering approximately 48,000 people, are No Longer Unreached.
They are described as a Scheduled Caste community scattered throughout Himachal Pradesh, closely identified with the Hali and working mainly as agricultural and other laborers. They speak Himachali, worship Shiv as their principal deity.
They are an Indigenous people in the Punjabi people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc.
Hindi is their primary language and Folk Hinduism is their primary religion.

The Chanal are No Longer Unreached, which means there are more than 2% evangelical Christian populations and there are churches consistent with evangelical faith and practice. There is still more to be done among them.
