The Bantar of India

The Bantar of India, numbering approximately 151,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached.
They are described as a Scheduled Caste community of northern Bihar whose name derives from ban, meaning bamboo, traditionally engaged in bamboo work, thatching and fishing. They are Maithili-speaking Hindus influenced by the Kabirpanth tradition.
They are an Indigenous people in the Bihari people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc.
Maithili is their primary language and Folk Hinduism is their primary religion.
