They are described as a community of India and can also be known as Dohor, Kakkayya, Kankayya.
They are an Indigenous people, with Dhor as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Marathi-Konkani people cluster of the South Asian Peoples.
Their primary religion is Hinduism - Folk.
They primarily speak Marathi.
