The Faqir of India

The Faqir of India, numbering approximately 113,000 people, are Engaged yet Unreached.
They are described as a widely distributed Muslim mendicant community whose name derives from the Arabic faqr, meaning poverty, tracing spiritual descent from the Caliphs Abu Bakr and Ali, and traditionally sustained by begging alms in Allah's name.
They are an Indigenous people in the Urdu people cluster of the South Asian Peoples affinity bloc.
Urdu is their primary language and Sunni Islam is their primary religion.

The Faqir are Unengaged and Unreached, which means there are less than 2% evangelical Christian populations among which there are no known efforts focused on establishing self-sustaining churches consistent with evangelical faith and practice.

Unreached yet Engaged

The Faqir are Engaged yet Unreached, which means there are less than 2% evangelical Christian populations but there are sustained efforts at establishing self-sustaining churches consistent with evangelical faith and practice.

No longer Unreached

The Faqir are No Longer Unreached, which means there are more than 2% evangelical Christian populations and there are churches consistent with evangelical faith and practice. There is still more to be done among them.

Pray that as people place their faith in Christ, they will remember God's mercy and grace and experience joy as they walk in new life with Christ.
