They are described as an Austronesian ethnic group indigenous to the central and eastern part of the Indonesian island of Java.
They are an Diaspora people in the Jawa people cluster of the Malay Peoples affinity bloc.
Malay, Sabah is their primary language and Folk Islam is their primary religion.
