They are described as an ethno-religious sub-group of Mandarin-speaking Han Chinese.
They are an Indigenous people in the Chinese-Hui people cluster of the East Asian Peoples affinity bloc.
Chinese, Mandarin is their primary language and Sunni Islam is their primary religion.
