They are described as a people of Nepal, Mahakali zone: Darchula District, Byas Valley and can also be known as Byansi, Byasis, Byanshi, Souka, Rang, Byangkho Lwo, Ranglo, Shauka, Byasis, Rangpa.
They are an Indigenous people, with Byangsi (Byansi) as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Tibetan people cluster of the Tibetan / Himalayan Peoples.
Their primary religion is Buddhism - Tibetan.
They primarily speak Byangsi.
