The Dalu of India

The Dalu of India, numbering approximately 16,500 people, are Unengaged and Unreached. They are described as a Meghalaya community bordering Bangladesh tracing its origin to an excommunicated Manipuri warrior, historically matrilineal though now patrilineal in inheritance, and increasingly adopting Vaishnavite Hindu practice They are an Indigenous people, with Dalu as their ethnic/kinship group and are in the Garo-Tripuri people cluster of the Himalayan Peoples. Their primary religion is Hinduism. They primarily speak Bengali.
