South Asian Peoples
Sinhala is the mother tongue of the Sinhalese people, the largest ethnic group in Sri Lanka. In addition to the Sinhala, this people cluster includes the Veddah, an indigenous people of Sri Lanka, and the Burgher, an ethnic group of mixed European and Sri Lankan heritage. Some sources also include the Rodiya, an untouchable social group or caste of the Sinhalese.
